The mission of the Maryland Oystermen Association begins with oyster revitalization and looking for alternative shell sources. We also wish to support an age-old industry that's a very important part of Maryland's economy, heritage, and social well-being. Our final goal is to unite the oyster industries with the bay user groups and consumers of quality local seafood through education and positive image about oyster revitalization.

January 2009 Update
Ocean City Watermen's Expo was a success. The MOA booth was a big hit. Thanks to all members who helped. The 50/50 winner was Bobby Unkle from Lusby, MD.
We would like to encourage all members to start getting involved at it could be beneficial to your ability to continue to participate in public oyster fishery as we know it today.
Many of the groups that would like to see this type fishery come to an end at always present at any type of fisheries management or advisory meetings.
We feel our presence has been beneficial to preventing the moratorium that has been proposed for this fishery for the last two years.
There will be a general membership meeting at Hog Neck Community Center on Ocean Highway, Easton MD on the evening of Wednesday February 18th at 7:00 p.m. in Wye Oak Room.
Thank you, MOA Board of Directors
